Nederland Eet Groep B.V.is a fast-growing restaurant chain in the Netherlands that allows customers to order out food. They currently have locations in 5 cities across the Netherlands with additional plans to expand their operations into 44 other cities also with the Netherlands.
The client needed to create a cross-platform application to React Native on FE and NodeJS on BE. This would save a lot of costs since they would not have to create two separate native applications for Android and iOS. They needed it to have the same functionality as their web application and also expand with additional features as well since they were looking to grow their audience. Such upgrades needed to be reconciled with the overall budget for creating the cross-platform app.
Nederland Eet Groep B.V. worked with a small IT company, but they could not actualize such a large-scale project. Team Harbour was recommended to the Nederland Eet Groep B.V by one of our previous partners XchangePlus. We needed to create a more attractive and user-friendly application that would catch up and overtake the attendance of the current web version. Also, we needed to create some sort of white label application that could work in multiple cities within one country (The Netherlands).
Team Harbour assembled a team of 9 people consisting of 1 Architect/Team Lead, 1 Senior UX/UI Designer, 2 backend developers, 3 frontend developers, 1 QA engineer, and 1 Project Manager/BA. When we started working on the project, we first looked at the backend code, which was written using Java SpringBoot.The code was of very low quality and we recommended that the entire backend be rewritten using NodeJS. After some negotiation with the client, they also agreed that this was the best way to go. Rigorous QA processes were implemented to make sure everything was done correctly including manual testing, unit testing as well as testing against the HiFi mockups and client expectations.
The duration of the project is expected to be somewhere between 4-6 months with the possibility of scaling the project to be discussed during the ongoing development stages.
